Psychological testing is a comprehensive evaluation procedure that measures and identifies important information about an individual's current level of functioning, underlying cognitive or emotional issues, strengths and weaknesses, and identifies risk factors.
Testing can help maximize success in treatment by helping understand the relationship between emotions, behaviors, thoughts , and personality. The benefits of psychological assessment are different for everyone but testing is often used for the following reasons:
Provide diagnostic clarification and identify barriers to treatment
Identify underlying problems, such as attention, executive function, learning or memory
Provide recommendations for treatment, goal planning, and additional resources
Identify strengths and weaknesses
Assess intellectual and emotional functioning
Provide an understanding of developmental and adaptive functioning
What to Expect After Psychological Testing
During your final feedback session you will receive the results and interpretation of the testing, recommendations for treatment and referrals as well as time to ask questions and discuss the results with your psychologist.
Results include a written report of all findings, with explanations of the tests used and the results, a psychosocial history, a summary and diagnosis and recommendations for treatment.
In some cases you may benefit from a combination of medication and therapy. Our experienced medical team will be able to collaborate directly with your therapist to ensure that your medication is working for you.
Before your first appointment, please let your provider know of any current medications or supplements that you take or have taken recently. Mind Matters does not prescribe Benzodiazepines, Suboxone, Methadone or opioid replacement medications.
